Why Convert Spring Rates?

Different industries and regions use various units to measure spring rates. Converting these units accurately is essential to ensure compatibility and performance for your applications. This is also helpful when converting from standard to metric spring I.D.'s (Inner Diameter), or vice versa, as spring lengths will offer from unit of measurement to another.

The three common units for spring rates are:

  • lbs/in = Pounds (lb) of force it takes to compress a spring 1 in.
  • kg/mm = Kilograms (kg) of force it takes to compress a spring 1 mm
  • N/mm = Newtons (N) of force it taes to compress a spring 1 mm

How do I know what rates I have?

Eibach offers both standard and metric coilover springs. Our standard spring rates are measured in lbs/in, and metric in kg/mm. The following examples of both standard and metric part numbers
